We are looking for driven, ambitious self-starters to join our team as we continue in our mission to disrupt conformity and change the traditional narrative of beauty in the industry.
We initially launched 15 years ago as a purely retail platform (Nigeria's first natural hair company, in fact!) and, in our quest to shatter Eurocentric beauty standards, we restructured and rebranded in 2020 to adopt a science- and data-driven approach to democratizing the haircare industry.
We're building the beauty brand of the future—a new standard in understanding, caring for and celebrating hair, rooted in African culture.
As we expand our new Lekki Salon + Retail Store, we are searching for LAGOS-BASED Salon Managers to oversee the new space.
Location: Kinky Apothecary, Sea Mall - Left Wing 3, First Floor, Plot 13, Block 12, Admiralty Way, Lekki, Lagos
Work arrangement: Full-time and in person, five days per week, generally eight hours per day, with some Sunday shifts from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Net monthly salary: ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂæ350,000 - ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂæ450,000
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Managing the day-to-day operations of the salon and analysing results
Managing salon staff, timetables and overall team performance
Managing the salon booking process and ensuring client satisfaction
Ensuring services are delivered consistently in line with Kinky Apothecary standards and SOPs
Monitoring salon performance, including revenue, bookings, rebooking, retail sales and other key KPIs
Managing stock, salon supplies, equipment and the general upkeep of the space
Addressing client complaints and resolving service issues as they arise
Aiding in developing and implementing new structures and processes
Assisting in executing Kinky Apothecary's sales and marketing strategy
Liaising and networking with senior management, suppliers, colleagues and partner organisations
In summary, the main aim of the role is to ensure the smooth running of the salon, address and troubleshoot problems as they arise, manage staff and communicate store activities effectively to the Founder and other senior management.
What We Are Looking For
A bachelor's degree and at least three years of relevant experience
Previous experience managing a salon or retail team; references will be checked
Relevant salon management, beauty-industry management or retail management experience is essential; strong hospitality or customer-service operations management experience may also be considered
A "people person"—someone who can get on with junior staff, senior management and customers alike
A problem solver who can think through issues and present potential solutions
A team player who genuinely wants to see the business succeed
Demonstrable professionalism and ambition, with an extremely strong work ethic
The ability to think on your feet without requiring constant instructions or validation
Excellent spoken and written communication skills
Strong organisational, people and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask
Attention to detail, self-discipline and trustworthiness
A desire to keep learning
This is not a stylist position. Hands-on hairstyling or beauty-service experience is not required.
Candidates must be comfortable standing for extended periods and occasionally lifting or moving product inventory. Regular breaks and a one-hour lunch break will be provided.
Training and Benefits
In-depth onboarding and role-specific training, followed by ongoing training approximately every six months
Health insurance
Product and service discounts
Daily lunch
Paid annual leave after one year of service
Inclusion in the employee share scheme after one year, subject to the applicable vesting terms
