Job Summary


The School Chaplain serves as the spiritual leader, pastoral caregiver, and moral compass of the school community. Responsible for nurturing the spiritual growth of students, faculty, and support staff.


Key Responsibilities

Spiritual Leadership & Ministry


Design, coordinate, and lead dynamic chapel services, mid-week prayer meetings, weekend boarding services, and spiritual revival weeks (Week of Prayer).
Foster a lively Pentecostal worship culture characterized by spirit-led praise, prayer, sound biblical teaching, and evangelism.
Organize and mentor the student Christian Union (CU) leadership, worship teams, prayer groups, and choir.
Discipleship and baptism classes: Conduct foundational discipleship, Bible study sessions, and believer's baptism classes for interested students.


Pastoral Care & Student Counseling


Provide confidential pastoral counseling and guidance to students facing academic stress, family issues, grief, peer pressure, or personal crisis.
Work closely with the Boarding Master, Boarding Mistress, and Guidance & Counseling department to monitor student well-being.
Offer spiritual support, prayer, and pastoral care to teachers, staff, and their families when needed.


Character Formation & Discipline


Partner with school administration to promote moral integrity, Christian values, and student discipline based on biblical principles.
Deliver mentorship programs targeting character development, leadership, purity, and life skills.
Address issues of substance abuse, cultism, negative peer influence, and cyber-bullying through preventive spiritual guidance and counseling.


Community & Outreach


Organize local community outreach, charity projects, and mission trips to instill a spirit of Christian service and social responsibility in students.
Engage with parents and guardians during school prayer days, AGM meetings, and visiting days to offer encouragement and spiritual support.
Coordinate with local Pentecostal churches, guest ministers, and gospel artists for special school events.


Administrative Responsibilities


Prepare an annual spiritual program and calendar of events in alignment with the national school term dates (Ministry of Education).
Prepare and manage the Chapel and Spiritual Department budget.
Submit termly reports on spiritual development, CU activities, and pastoral care metrics to the Principal and Board of Governors.

Active student participation and leadership growth within the Christian Union and worship teams.
Visible positive impact on overall school discipline, student morale, and boarding culture.
Timely, structured delivery of chapel programs, discipleship classes, and termly spiritual events.
Consistency in dormitory visitations and accessible pastoral counseling hours.


Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Training


Degree/Diploma in Theology, Biblical Studies, Divinity, or Pastoral Ministry from an accredited Christian institution.
Additional training or certification in Guidance and Counseling or Youth Ministry is highly desirable.
Ordination or credentials with a recognized Pentecostal church/denomination in Kenya (e.g., PAG, CITAM, PEFA, KAG, Deliverance Church, etc.) is an added advantage.


Experience


Minimum of 3 - 5 years of active pastoral experience, with a proven track record in Youth Ministry, High School Chaplaincy, or School Chaplaincy.
Demonstrated experience working within a boarding school setup and familiarity with the Kenyan Ministry of Education framework.
