Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:
Certification to teach secondary education in French or a related qualification
French language proficiency of at least C1 level under CEFR standards
Minimum two years' experience teaching French at secondary and middle school level
Demonstrated passion for French language, cultural exploration, and communication
Experience integrating content thematically and conceptually
Understanding of Mastery-Based Learning, Universal Design for Learning, and Project-Based Learning
Strong assessment, curriculum development, and instructional skills
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Strong alignment with Woodland Star's mission and values
Letters of recommendation
Current police background check / Certificate of Good Conduct
Original academic and personal documents required for securing a Kenyan work permit, where applicable
Completed Woodland Star application and supporting documentation
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging French as a Foreign Language lessons to Secondary and Middle Years learners
Implement curriculum and learning activities aligned with academic and French language proficiency standards
Integrate language acquisition, cultural exploration, and conceptual themes into classroom learning
Design and implement assessments that measure language development and academic progress
Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practice
Support learners in developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in French
Create consistent expectations and provide guidance and support for student behaviour
Foster curiosity, confidence, communication, and appreciation for French-speaking cultures
Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide initiatives
Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues in a culturally responsive manner
Participate in school events, projects, and community initiatives
Contribute to field studies and learning experiences, including termly travel of up to two weeks where required
