This position is responsible for the safety and security of the KWAL property, ensuring the security of all assets (tangible and intangible), people (staff, on-site contractors) and the public using KWAL premises and implementing appropriate policies and systems to maintain security as well as protecting KWAL's brand through driving anti illicit initiatives with Government Multi-Agencies

Main Responsibilities

Departmental Strategy formulation and implementation


Prepare, deploy and monitor implementation of the Security departmental plans and strategies, aligned to the overall business strategy and Heineken strategy, policies and frameworks.
Implement anti-illicit trade strategy
Conduct research on the trends and future fit Security department in terms of networks, monitoring, systems and the necessary skill sets for personnel to achieve the desired future state.
Develop business cases to support new security initiatives and present them to the management team for decision making.
Develop and roll out strategic Security initiatives including the overall plans subject to senior management approval


Planning and implementation


Develop, implement and monitor the departmental annual budgets to ensure alignment with the overall KWAL strategy


Policies Development


Develop and implement security policies to protect staff, visitors and users of KWAL premises in alignment to Heineken policies and frameworks
Review and incorporation of national security regulations into KWAL's security policies and procedures in alignment to Heineken especially on strategy, policies, frameworks


Intelligence gathering & risk analysis


Conduct and liaise on investigations and report to management security incidents or threats / breach expected to occur for appropriate action
Gather information internally and externally and represent KWAL in security meetings with other agencies, share any relevant information with management and provide advice appropriate actions required
Prepare and upon approval disseminate all security communications within the organisation
Carry out security assessments and reviews in all KWAL locations and provide management with recommendations for action and/or work directly to implement action plans
Participate in establishing and updating business recovery plans and procedures; participate in disaster management during any incidents and emergencies
In the event of a security breach or other incident, ensure that any necessary evidence is secured and undertake appropriate measures to prevent further damage
Assist with disciplinary and legal matters associated with such breaches as necessary
Facilitate crime prevention by monitoring all access controls daily and ensuring their full coverage
Attend to the grievances or complaints in line with security for staff, tenants or visitors and take appropriate actions that will maintain a good image of KWAL; help staff and tenants in matters that require police or court action.
Facilitate Anti Illicit investigations and targeted raids


Security Operations Management


Monitor the activities of contracted security to ensure they are efficient and effective
Manage, supervise and assign duties to the KWAL Security Officers
Ensure optimum deployment number of guards and Loss Control Officers
Ensure proper operations of guards and LCOs
Oversee Security Operations Control Room (SOCR) operations
Manage and ensure CCTV monitoring
Ensure operations of the access control system
Ensure the intruder detection system is operating
Assign and ensure GSM radios are working well via the SOCR
Ensure Duty Controllers are of the right quality and well deployed


Continuous Improvement/ TPM


Drive optimization and improvement of the department
Entrench TPM2Win as the driving engine for the department
Enhance productivity and service levels aligned to business needs by creating an environment that challenges status quo and promotes innovation
Drive the utilisation of available automation/ digitization, ERP in the day-to-day operations of the Security department
Drive continuous improvement in all facets within the department.


Compliance and Reporting


Enforce appropriate service-level agreements
Ensure compliance with Audit and Risk directives
Act against indiscipline and misconduct
Prepare and submit accurate and timely management reports for decision making


People Management


Establish systems to attract, develop, engage performance management and retain talented individuals
Create an environment where staff can realise their full potential and contribute to the attainment of departmental and organizational goals
Create a sense of common purpose within the department


Minimum Required Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

Academic Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in social science or criminology.


Professional Qualifications


A recognized qualification in security management is an added advantage


Experience


At least 8 years, 2 years' experience in management role in a Supply Chain FMCG Environment

An in depth understanding of the organisations' business strategy required while very aware of how decisions can affect the overall success and profitability of the organisation
Ability to gather security intelligence
Highly developed analytical, planning and forecasting skills and project management
A proven track record of strong leadership capabilities.
Practical experience in use of MS packages and ERP systems.
Strong end to end supply chain knowledge (manufacturing, logistics, customer service operations, project management).
Strong attention to detail and the ability to determine the root cause of a problem.
Ability to set priorities and work independently within set guidelines.
