Purpose


The Asset management Senior Accountant is responsible for accounting for all assets, maintaining the fixed assets register, risk management for all assets, accounting for accruals and prepayments, tax filing and compliance, accounting and reporting in compliance with the relevant IFRS. The role also accounts for payables and expenses, manages internal controls, supports audits, budgeting and forecasting in line with company policy.


Job Magnitude


Latitude: Reports to the Finance Manager. Works closely with Projects, Operations and other internal teams. External contacts include suppliers and auditors.
Level of Impact: This role directly supports financial integrity through complete and accurate recognition of assets, expenses and accruals recognition. It impacts, financial reporting quality, audit readiness, and stakeholder satisfaction by ensuring timely completion of audits and strong internal controls.
Budget: Supports budgeting and forecasting execution as required.


Duties and Responsibilities


Perform end-to-end accounting for all assets (fixed, intangible, IFRS 16) in compliance with IFRS.
Conduct fixed assets verification and asset tagging to ensure real time update of asset register in collaboration with the operations team
Track and reconcile accruals, prepayments and ensuring accurate timing of recognition and alignment with accounting policies
Manage the Asset management function, including Asset register, schedules, reports and reconciliations.
Prepare audit-ready schedule and samples for: assets, accruals, prepayments and Tax. Support budgeting, forecasting and management reporting
Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including VAT and WHT filings, monthly reconciliations and internal ledger updates.
Coordinate asset risk management by timely renewal of assets insurance
Conduct treasury and compliance tasks for the holding entity
Record and defer commissions in line with contract terms and expected revenue.
Perform any other tasks assigned by management.


Qualifications and Competencies

Hard Skills


Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, commerce or a related field from a reputable institution.
A Certified Public Accountant (ICPAK) or ACCA member in good standing.
In-depth knowledge of IFRS; familiarity with US GAAP is an added advantage.
Minimum of 6 years' experience in a busy finance environment, with a strong focus on asset management and compliance
Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel will be an added advantage.
Hands-on experience with QuickBooks and working with Asset management systems
Experience with Oracle is an added advantage
Leadership and project management skills will be an added advantage.
