Overview
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial operations of the organisation, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic financial decision-making. The role requires a strong understanding of fund management operations, capital markets, and financial reporting within a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and regulatory requirements
Oversee fund accounting activities, including NAV calculations, portfolio valuation, and investor reporting
Ensure compliance with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations and other statutory requirements
Manage general ledger activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis
Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and regulators
Monitor and manage accounts payable, receivable, and treasury functions
Prepare and file tax returns and ensure timely remittance of all statutory obligations
Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support investment and strategic decisions
Maintain and enforce strong internal controls and risk management processes
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff
Manage the fixed asset register and oversee periodic asset verification exercises
Assist in budget preparation, forecasting, and performance tracking
Act as the primary point of contact for audit and regulatory inquiries
Key Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACA, ACCA, CPA) is required
Minimum of 5 - 7 years' relevant experience, preferably within a fund management, asset management, or financial services firm
Strong knowledge of fund accounting, financial reporting, and SEC regulations
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Solid understanding of IFRS and financial controls
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills
High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
