Job Purpose
To oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, ensure accuracy of financial records, support management reporting, and maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts.
Prepare variance analysis and explain key movements to management.
Assist in preparation of annual financial statements in line with IFRS.
General Ledger & Bookkeeping:
Review and post journal entries to the GL.
Perform monthly GL reconciliations: Bank, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Intercompany.
Ensure all transactions are properly captured and classified.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Support the annual budgeting process.
Prepare rolling forecasts and track actuals vs budget.
Provide insights to budget owners.
Tax & Compliance:
Support preparation of CIT, VAT, WHT returns and filings with FIRS / LIRS.
Ensure compliance with tax laws and other regulatory requirements.
Liaise with auditors during statutory and internal audits.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight:
Review vendor payments and ensure 3-way match.
Monitor customer collections and aging reports.
Ensure proper revenue recognition.
Process Improvement & Controls:
Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Identify process gaps and recommend improvements in accounting systems.
Support ERP / system upgrades and reconciliations.
Other:
Support special projects and ad-hoc financial analysis as required.
Mentor and supervise junior accountants/accounts officers.
Key Requirements
Qualification: B.Sc in Accounting, Finance or related field.
ACA - ICAN is required.
Experience: 3 years post-qualification experience in a corporate environment.
Knowledge:Strong knowledge of IFRS, FIRS regulations, and internal controls.
Skills:
Advanced Excel, ERP experience e.g. SAP, Oracle, Sage.
Strong analytical skills.
Competencies: Attention to detail, integrity, communication, and ability to work under deadline.
Must reside on the Island within close proximity to Ikota Ajah Lagos.
