About the Role
As a Senior Bookkeeper, you will play a critical role in managing financial transactions and ensuring the accuracy of financial records for our organization. Your primary focus will be on overseeing day-to-day bookkeeping operations, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger management and reconciliation.
Process and record all accounts payable and receivable transactions timely and accurately.
Prepare monthly financial statements and assist in the preparation of annual budgets.
Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of transactions.
Collaborate with the finance team to enhance internal controls and improve bookkeeping processes.
Assist with audits by providing necessary financial documentation and explanations.
Handle payroll processing, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and timely submission of employee-related deductions.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to management based on analysis of financial data.
Oversee financial departments of all of the group entities.
Process invoices.
Load EFT payments.
Allocate income to debtors invoices.
Calculate and submit VAT 201.
Reconcile loan accounts.
Requirements
At least five (5) years' proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar financial role, demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail.
Proven experience within the manufacturing industry.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to financial management.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively liaise with team members and clients.
Ability to work under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
A relevant qualification in accounting or finance (e.g., diploma, degree, or certification).
Experience in tax preparation and compliance practices.
Familiarity with financial reporting standards in South Africa.
Knowledge of local legislation affecting business operations and payroll.
