Main Purpose of The Role:


To deliver value-added customs services by managing non-core customs functions that enhance client solutions, ensure SARS compliance, reduce risk, and support the organisation's competitive differentiation within the customs clearing and freight forwarding industry.


Minimum Requirements:


Must have 5 - 10years working experience as Customs Broker
Must have transport to and from work
Must be willing to work overtime weekdays and weekends when the need arises
Must be fluent in English (written & oral)
Freight Forwarding & or Customs Clearing Courses will be an advantage.
Knowledge of Customs procedures and processes.
Must have been involved in Customs Clearing and have knowledge of the industry
Deal with relevant Controllers / Clients with regards to relevant queries and ensure that they are resolved
Ability to ensure SARS compliance and mitigate risks related to non-compliance
Strong analytical skills to resolve complex clearances
Must have been involved in Customs Clearing and have knowledge of the industry
Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with clients, internal teams, government agencies
Responsible for own QC of work processed
Proven experience in Customs Clearing within the freight forwarding industry


Added advantages:


Freight Forwarding and/or Customs Clearing courses
Customs-related training (e.g. audits, tariff determination, customs legislation


Qualifications:


Matric (essential)
Tertiary qualifications will be of advantage.


Computer packages


Office 365 (Teams, OneNote, Forms), MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (intermediate).
Cargo Wise, Ship Shape


Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:


Manage and process customs refunds, drawbacks, and provisional payments


Process customs declarations, including but not limited to:


Warehousing declarations
General entries
Industrial rebates
General rebates


Ex-customs warehouse entries


Prepare and submit Vouchers of Correction
Conduct and manage customs audits from initiation through to finalization
Perform accurate tariff determinations (TDNs) in compliance with customs legislation
Handle and resolve customs-related queries from clients, internal stakeholders, and government authorities
Assist the Customs Manager with ad-hoc operational and compliance-related tasks as required
Ensure all customs activities are performed in accordance with SARS requirements and internal quality standards
Role may require overtime during peak periods or operational demands
