Role Summary
The Senior Consultant Strategy sits at the heart of our planning operation. You will own the brief from problem diagnosis through to strategic recommendation, working across multiple client categories, translating complex business, cultural, and market dynamics into clear, actionable direction. This is a leadership-track role for someone who has moved past execution and is ready to shape how the business thinks.
You will be responsible for research synthesis, insight generation, brand strategy development, and the communication of strategic ideas to senior clients and internal leadership. You will also mentor and guide the junior strategy team.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Lead the strategic development process across brand, communications, and category briefs
Conduct primary and secondary research; translate data into commercially relevant insight
Author brand positioning documents, audience frameworks, and strategic narratives
Define problem statements, strategic territories, and actionable recommendations
Present confidently to senior marketing clients and C-suite stakeholders
Ensure all outputs meet a high standard of clarity, rigor, and relevance
Collaborate with creative, digital, and experience leads across SBUs
Contribute to new business pitches and credentials materials
Mentor Strategy Analysts and contribute to the intellectual culture of the strategy team
Client Advisory
Engage senior client stakeholders with confidence and credibility
Present strategic work clearly and persuasively
Contribute to decision-making processes with well-structured recommendations
Build trusted relationships across client teams
Insight & Analysis
Translate market, consumer, and cultural data into meaningful strategic insight
Identify patterns, shifts, and opportunities that inform direction
Apply structured frameworks to support thinking and recommendations
Team Leadership
Guide and mentor Strategy Consultants and junior team members
Review and elevate the quality of strategic output across projects
Foster a culture of disciplined thinking and strong writing
Thought Leadership & IP
Contribute to internal frameworks, methodologies, and knowledge development
Support development of reports, perspectives, and proprietary thinking
Strengthen Chain Reactions' positioning as a strategic advisory partner
What We Are Looking For
5 - 8 years experience in strategy, consulting, brand planning, or marketing function
Strong understanding of business strategy, brand development, and communications
Demonstrable ability to build and present proprietary frameworks and strategic models
Excellent written and verbal communication; you can write a strategy document and present it
Familiarity with multi-brand, holding company, or multi-category environments is an advantage
Strong command of consumer and cultural insight, particularly in African markets
Experience working with senior stakeholders
