Senior Designer at BURN
BURN
About the role
This is a design role for a creative with a strong portfolio, a genuine interest in brand storytelling, and the instincts to work beyond pure execution. You will join an in-house creative team embedded within a corporate environment, contributing directly to how our brand shows up across every channel, audience, and touchpoint.
We are looking for someone at a meaningful juncture in their career: past the learning curve of junior production, not yet in a formal art direction position, but already demonstrating the visual intelligence and conceptual thinking that will take them there. You can translate a brief into a compelling creative response, shape visual narratives with purpose, and make strong independent decisions—while still operating effectively within a structured organisation and benefiting from senior creative guidance.
In this role, you will balance creative ambition with commercial reality. You understand that great design in a corporate context means marrying visual craft with business objectives, brand consistency, and stakeholder needs. You are collaborative, clear-headed under pressure, and serious about doing the work well.
Duties and Responsibilities
Visual Design & Production
Develop high-quality visual design across a broad range of deliverables, including integrated campaigns, digital assets, presentations, print collateral, internal communications, and brand materials
Manage projects from creative brief through to final delivery with accuracy, quality control, and attention to detail at every stage
Maintain and apply brand guidelines consistently across all outputs, ensuring visual coherence across channels and formats
Conceptual Thinking & Creative Development
Translate creative briefs into well-considered visual concepts, bringing strategic and aesthetic thinking together from the outset
Contribute actively to creative ideation sessions and campaign development, offering ideas and visual direction—not just execution
Apply an art director's sensibility to layout, typography, hierarchy, composition, and brand storytelling across all work
Help evolve and elevate the brand system over time, identifying opportunities to strengthen and advance creative standards
Collaboration & Creative Relationships
Work in close creative partnership with copywriters, strategists, and marketers to develop work that is both visually compelling and strategically sound
Engage constructively with creative briefs from across the business, asking the right questions to ensure design decisions serve the intended message and audience
Present design work clearly and with confidence—articulating the thinking behind visual decisions and responding to feedback as part of a healthy creative dialogue
Collaborate with external creative partners, photographers, and production studios in a design or art direction support capacity where relevant
Build trusted working relationships within the creative team, contributing positively to a culture of craft, curiosity, and shared creative ambition
Skills and Experience
Approximately five years of professional design experience, with a portfolio that demonstrates strong conceptual and craft-led thinking across a variety of formats and contexts
An emerging art direction sensibility: a considered approach to visual storytelling, typographic hierarchy, layout, and campaign-level thinking
A genuine understanding of brand: how visual systems hold together, why consistency matters, and how to evolve a brand without breaking it
Commercial awareness and a clear sense of how design functions within business and marketing contexts
A collaborative, solutions-oriented working style that is proactive without being directive
Comfort working in a structured, process-driven environment while maintaining creative curiosity and ambition
Adobe Creative Suite — Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign (advanced working knowledge required)
Figma — for digital design, component-based thinking, and collaborative review workflows
Presentation design — Microsoft PowerPoint and/or Apple Keynote, to a high standard of layout and communication design
Typography, grid systems, brand identity, and campaign design
Print production knowledge — understanding of specifications, pre-press, and supplier management
Experience working in an in-house creative team within a corporate, financial services, consulting, professional services, or enterprise brand environment
Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with senior stakeholders, including leadership-level presentation experience
Exposure to campaign development from brief to execution, with involvement in creative direction or concept development alongside a senior creative
Experience attending or supporting photoshoots, creative productions, or agency briefings
A track record of contributing to brand evolution projects—brand refreshes, guidelines development, or creative system-building.
