Duties and Responsibilities
Taking part in supervising road works:
Taking part in preparing detailed design and working drawings for construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of all roads and highway structures:
Taking part in quality assurance technical, performance and road safety audits and preparing draft reports:
Taking part in implementation of road safety engineering programs and risk management activities:
Taking part in feasibility studies to determine viability for development of roads, infrastructure projects and environmental, social impact assessment;
Taking part in pavement evaluation and structural integrity surveys on existing roads;
Drafting tender documents and carrying out cost estimates for road works:
Compiling and analyzing data on ongoing and completed road projects and preparing data progress reports; and
Compiling and collating data pertaining to road works and inventory.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
Served for a minimum period of six (6) years, three (3) years in the grade of Engineer I (Roads) or in an equivalent and relevant position:
Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree in any of the following disciplines: Civil Engineering, Civil and Structural Engineering. or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution:
Certificate in Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
Registration by Engineers Board of Kenya as a Graduate Engineer:
Proficiency in computer applications; and
Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
