PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Senior Finance Coordinator will provide specialist financial expertise and operational support to BBC News activities in East Africa, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, effective treasury management, regulatory compliance, and efficient financial operations. The role will support business planning and decision-making through high-quality financial information while ensuring compliance with BBC policies, local statutory requirements, and governance standards.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
Coordinate day-to-day financial operations, including supplier payments, invoicing, expense management, banking activities, and cash management.
Prepare and review monthly financial reports, reconciliations, forecasts, and management information to support operational and business decision-making.
Lead month-end reporting processes and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records and data.
Perform and review bank reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with BBC financial policies, treasury requirements, delegated authorities, and internal control frameworks. Administer access controls for finance systems, ensuring appropriate user permissions and compliance with BBC policies and data protection requirements.
Support compliance with local statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements and assist in ensuring that all required filings and reporting obligations are completed accurately and on time.
Support internal and external audit processes, including preparation of documentation, liaison with auditors and service providers, and implementation of audit recommendations where required. Monitor the performance of outsourced finance service providers and banking partners to ensure services meet BBC operational requirements and agreed standards.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
A recognised professional accounting qualification (CPA(K), ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) and relevant experience in a finance role.
Experience of financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting and month-end processes within a complex organisation.
Good knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, compliance requirements and audit processes.
Experience using SAP and other financial management systems, with strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, identify issues and deliver accurate, high-quality work to deadlines.
DESIRABLE:
Experience working within an international organisation or multinational environment.
Knowledge of Kenyan tax and regulatory requirements.
Experience supporting finance operations across multiple countries or jurisdictions.
