Qualifications


BSc (Hons) in Geology or equivalent qualification.
Professional registration with SACNASP or eligibility to register.


Experience


Minimum 5 - 7 years' experience in geology within the mining industry.
Proven experience in resource estimation, geological modelling, and grade control.
Experience in underground or open pit mining environments (depending on operation).


Technical Skills


Strong knowledge of geological modelling and resource estimation software (e.g. Leapfrog, Datamine, Surpac, Micromine).
Experience with geological databases and data management systems.
Knowledge of SAMREC Code and mineral resource reporting standards.
Strong analytical and interpretation skills.

Responsibilities:


Lead and manage all geological project activities including exploration, grade control, orebody modelling, and resource estimation.
Provide strategic geological input into short-, medium-, and long-term Group mine planning.
Interpret geological data and update geological models to support production and resource optimisation.
Ensure accurate orebody delineation and grade control to maximise resource extraction and minimise dilution.
Oversee geological drilling programmes including planning, supervision, and interpretation of results.
Manage geological databases and ensure integrity and accuracy of geological data.
Compile geological reports, resource statements, and technical documentation for internal and regulatory requirements.
Ensure compliance with SAMREC/SAMVAL reporting standards where applicable.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior geologists and geological technicians.
Collaborate with mine planning, survey, and production teams to support operational performance.
Monitor geological risks and provide recommendations to mitigate potential impacts on mining operations.
Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
