A Doctoral degree (PhD) in Geography and Environmental Sciences.
A minimum of five years' teaching experience at a tertiary institution, or at least seven years of professional experience in a related field.
A proven academic record with at least five publications in accredited, peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, or full book publications.


Duties:


Contribute to the teaching and assessment of undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses, using both formative and summative methods, in collaboration with faculty members.
Assist in the development and delivery of course materials under the mentorship of senior academic staff.
Support the evaluation of student work, including assignments, examinations, and projects, and provide constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes.
Maintain regular consultation hours to address student queries and provide academic support.
Participate in training workshops and seminars aimed at improving teaching methodologies and instructional practices.
Engage in research activities within the department, including fieldwork, data collection, data analysis, and literature reviews.
Acquire and apply innovative research techniques, including interdisciplinary approaches and community-based engagement projects.
Contribute to the preparation and dissemination of research findings through academic publications and conference presentations.
Work closely with a faculty mentor to receive guidance and support for ongoing academic and professional development.
Take part in university-led professional development initiatives, such as workshops on academic writing, grant proposal development, project management, and career planning.
Collaboratively develop a career progression plan, outlining both short-term and long-term academic goals.
Participate in departmental governance, including meetings, committees, and institutional events, to gain insight into administrative processes.
Support outreach and public engagement efforts, including delivering public lectures, conducting school visits, and facilitating environmental education programmes.
Maintain active involvement in professional organizations, contributing to peer review processes, attending academic conferences, and building professional networks.
