Job Responsibilities


Responsible for conducting legal due diligence on lands intended for purchase or sale by the company, including:

Verification of land ownership
Review of land history records
Checking for disputes, encumbrances, or mortgages


Responsible for drafting, reviewing, and managing legal documents related to land transactions, including:

Deed of Assignment
Contract of Sale
Land Purchase Agreement
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)


Responsible for processing or assisting with land title documentation and government approval procedures, including:

Certificate of Occupancy(C of O / CFO)
Excision
Gazette


Communicate and coordinate with government authorities regarding land approval processes, such as:

Ogun State Bureau of Lands and Survey
Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development


Handle legal disputes related to land matters, including:

Land ownership disputes, land encroachment issues, and contract disputes.


Participate in land transaction negotiations, provide legal advice, and manage legal risks.
Ensure the company's land transactions and development activities comply with Nigerian laws and regulations.
Manage the legal team, provide training, and coordinate legal matters within the company.


Job Requirements


Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) or higher qualification.
Minimum of 10 years legal experience, including at least 5 years in land or real estate law.
Must be qualified to practice law in Nigeria and registered with the Nigerian Bar Association.
Familiar with the following legal areas:

Land law, real estate law, contract law, and land registration procedures.


Familiar with Nigerian land approval and land title processes, such as:

Charting
Survey verification
Land registration
Certificate of OccupancyC of O)


Possess strong legal analytical skills, communication skills, and negotiation abilities.


Core Competencies:


Land legal due diligence, land transaction contract drafting, government approval process management, land dispute resolution, and legal risk management.


Preferred Qualifications:


Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working with land development companies, be familiar with land transaction processes, and have experience dealing with government land approvals.
