Job Description
An industry-leading engineering firm specializing in offshore, oil and gas, and heavy mechanical systems is seeking a highly skilled and driven Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team. This dynamic role balances hands-on technical design and engineering with end-to-end project execution. This is a primarily design focused role and would require candidates with a great passion for it, paired with relevant experience.
Primary Responsibilities (±70% of Role)
Perform in-house design and product development.
Conduct strength calculations from first principles, utilizing FEA and simulation tools as required.
Execute 3D CAD modeling and technical drawing production using SolidWorks.
Generate complete manufacturing data packs, including Bill of Materials (BOMs), Quality Control Plans (QCPs), Work Instructions, and User Manuals.
Manage vendor relationships and oversight during the fabrication phase.
Secondary Responsibilities (±30% of Role)
Oversee project management across Service, Repair, Manufacture, Design, CEM, and Product lines from inception through to delivery.
Manage project quotation, execution, procurement, logistics, resource planning, and scheduling.
Review inspection reports, manage dispositions, and compile final data books for submission.
Provide direct oversight on manufacturing processes, quality control, and final project closeout.
Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum Education: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Cape Town (UCT) or Stellenbosch University.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a relevant Mid-Level or Senior Mechanical Engineering role.
Proven track record within the Heavy Engineering, Offshore, Oil & Gas, or Subsea sectors.
A strong, demonstrated passion and capability for mechanical design.
Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling, simulation, and drafting).
