Job Description

To liaise with the project team and sub-contractors with regard to trends and forecasting of a project's progress.


Assist in formulating and implementation of planning methodologies, policies, procedures and best practices.
Assist in aligning risk strategy with planning strategy
Stay abreast of new trends and innovations
To understand the scope of work by:
Studying client scoping documentation regarding the project
Obtaining estimates of the project from Estimating department
Support Project team during the initial phase of order planning and agreeing upon an adequate control system


To develop a baseline schedule by:


Developing and/or understanding the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
Planning the work on an area-by-area basis (front end schedule)
Developing detailed plan after receiving deliverables from project team
Applying industry best practices to the development of the schedule
Developing a Schedule Management Plan
Developing a basis for the schedule (Basis of Schedule)
Finalising overall execution schedule
Finalising the baseline schedule


To develop analysis/monitoring tools by:


Developing and maintain critical path/near critical path analysis
Perform a constructability review
Develop Performance Indexes
Develop and maintaining S-Curves for all sections of the schedule to be analysed and included in reporting


To continuously monitor and/or adjust the project schedules for the duration of a project by:


Updating schedules
Managing change control
Report regularly occurrences to the business and the client
Keep the project manager up to date with critical items requiring attention to keep the project on track
Provide information to Cost Engineering as required
Utilising Earned Value as a method of measurement
To generate a close-out report by:
Reporting history of project at the end of the project and establishing a record or database
Reporting lessons learned that can be used by future projects
To provide adequate feedback by:
Updating the project plan and preparing a detailed analysis of variances and situations with particular problems
Preparing information reports providing progress as required by the project team
Creating awareness on delays and priorities identified to the Project team and management and suggest possible corrective action
Actively promote the Company's professional image, both internally & externally
Implement and manage adhoc projects and duties as may be required and assigned from time to time.
Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS


Grade 12
Minimum 5 years qualification i.e. Engineering, Construction will be advantageous
PMI, AACEI certification will be advantages


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE


Minimum 5 years proven experience with large projects in an EPCM / EPCM/Construction/Engineering environment would be required within Projects / EPCM environment
Project Life cycle: Knowledge of the main project phases
Risk analysis: Ability to identify project and activates risks from any point of view
Controlling, scheduling & planning software: Familiarity and use of specific scheduling & planning software (e.g. Primavera P6, MS Project, etc.)
Change management: Ability to effectively and efficiently manage changes during the course of the project
Commercial Principles: Understanding of contract types and of their main features
Planning & Scheduling: Ability to plan using tools, methods and best practices.
Legislation & Standards: Knowledge of sector specific law e.g. Engineering, safety etc. and standard specifications e.g. Plant layout requirements etc.
Project Management: Knowledge of basic project management methods and all project lifecycle phases
Cost control: Knowledge of cost engineering principles: total cost management and total quality management etc.
