Senior Reservoir Engineer at WTS Energy
WTS Energy
Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a Senior Reservoir Engineer to join their team and lead reservoir engineering initiatives focused on optimizing oil and gas reservoir performance. This role is within a dynamic upstream oil and gas operator managing diverse reservoir environments and complex field development projects. The Senior Reservoir Engineer will conduct reservoir modeling and simulation studies, develop field development plans, and provide technical guidance to maximize recovery and economic outcomes. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and management of reservoir-related budgets and cost optimization are key aspects of the position. Candidates can expect to engage in advanced reservoir management strategies, contribute to commercialization efforts, and play a pivotal role in driving operational efficiency and innovation.
Responsibilities:
Lead reservoir engineering activities to assess, analyze, and optimize oil and gas reservoir performance, ensuring alignment with strategic field development goals.
Conduct advanced reservoir simulation and modeling studies to accurately predict reservoir behavior, production rates, and long-term performance.
Develop, implement, and continuously refine reservoir management strategies aimed at maximizing recovery, minimizing costs, and enhancing production efficiency.
Design and optimize comprehensive field development plans, including drilling programs, well completion strategies, and production forecasting.
Prepare timely and accurate quarterly production volume forecasts and reservoir engineering inputs to support economic evaluations and asset development decisions.
Collaborate cross-functionally with geologists, geophysicists, petrophysicists, production technologists, and other operational teams to deliver integrated reservoir optimization solutions.
Perform reserve and resource estimations and reporting in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Monitor ongoing reservoir performance, identify optimization opportunities, and recommend interventions to improve recovery and operational efficiency.
Lead technical reporting, presentations, and communication of reservoir engineering findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and reservoir teams, fostering professional development and adherence to best practices.
Manage reservoir engineering budgets, including software, testing, and data acquisition costs, while identifying opportunities for cost optimization.
Conduct economic evaluations and cost-benefit analyses of reservoir management strategies and development plans to maximize net present value (NPV) and internal rate of return (IRR).
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline
Professional Engineering (PE) License or equivalent certification demonstrating formal training and competency
Minimum of 8-12 years of reservoir engineering experience, including at least 8 years in senior or leadership roles within major international oil and gas organizations
Proven expertise in reservoir simulation and modeling using industry-standard software such as ECLIPSE, CMG, or PETREL
Extensive experience in reservoir management, field development planning, well intervention, and surveillance across diverse reservoir types (conventional, unconventional, offshore, mature fields)
Strong techno-commercial acumen with demonstrated ability to support hydrocarbon field commercialization and development planning
In-depth knowledge of reservoir engineering fundamentals including fluid dynamics, rock-fluid interactions, pressure transient analysis, well testing, and production optimization techniques
Proficient in economic evaluation and financial modeling of reservoir development scenarios to maximize net present value (NPV) and internal rate of return (IRR)
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including mentoring junior engineers and leading multidisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Post-graduate degree in Petroleum Engineering or related field
Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, timelines, and budgets
Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices in reservoir engineering
Proven track record of technical contributions through publications or mentoring programs
Strong project management and planning skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and additional reservoir engineering software tools
Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards in engineering operations
Personal attributes including problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, adaptability, teamwork orientation, and effective communication
