To effectively and efficiently implement electrical diagnostic procedures and repairs under workshop/field conditions. Implement major overhauls on Caterpillar equipment as instructed by management.
Conduct inspections and commissioning of new Caterpillar equipment ensuring the required documentation is completed correctly.
To effectively utilize diagnostic equipment to evaluate Caterpillar engine performance and condition following recognized Caterpillar procedures and service information.
Establish parts reusability using Caterpillar literature and service information. Prepare parts list for workshop jobs utilizing SIS Parts System.
Minimize rectification work by ensuring correct procedures are employed during assembly and maintenance work.
Ensure company assets i.e tools and equipment are maintained to an acceptable standard ensuring all tools in his care are available for inspection when requested.
Report any unsafe practice or situation to his superiors for immediate action.
Prepare clear and concise service reports, SIMS, DSR's as required for both customer and management.
Perform other related duties as may be directed by the Supervisor.
Installation & Wiring: Read technical drawings to wire engines, generator sets, control panels, cable trays, and enclosures.
Diagnostics & Repair: Use testing instruments (like multimeters) to locate defects, test faulty parts, and troubleshoot CNC/PLC or relay-logic machines.
Maintenance & Testing: Perform routine checks such as portable appliance testing and periodic inspections on facility or plant equipment.
Safety & Compliance: Follow health and safety regulations, support business improvement plans (like 5S), and maintain clean work areas.
System Diagnostics: Connect laptops with Cat ET software to machine data ports to read active and logged fault codes.
Repairs & Maintenance: Troubleshoot and fix wiring harnesses, sensors, electronic panels, and digital components on diesel engines and heavy equipment.
Calibrations & Updates: Perform parameter adjustments, software program flashing, injector trims, and cylinder cutout tests.
Data Analysis: Review minimum and maximum sensor readings to spot failing parts before total breakdown.
RELEVANT INFORMATION.
HND/ First Degree in Electrical Engineering with 2 years of field experience.
Sound and safe driving skills with valid professional driving license are added advantages.
