Job Advert Summary


This is a full-time position, based at Marble Hall. The candidate will be required to assist plant management in developing, implementing and monitoring relevant strategies, policies and programs to promote a sustainable and strategic business. To oversee and ensure an Environmental, Health & Safety and Quality aspect performance in all business units of Nutri Feeds


Minimum Requirements


Matric/Grade 12.
Management degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, Food Safety, Quality Management or a related field
SAMTRAC Certificate and/or NatSam
Recognised internal or lead auditor certification in ISO 45001 and FSSC 22000
Sound working knowledge of the OSH Act 85 of 1993 and applicable regulations
Practical working knowledge of ISO 45001, FSSC 22000, HACCP, TACCP and VACCP requirements
Proven experience in certification maintenance, audit coordination, incident investigation, root-cause analysis and corrective-action management
At least 5 years' relevant SHEQ experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment
3 years feed manufacturing experience
Excellent Computer Literacy
Strong report-writing and presentation skills
Facilitator experience


Duties and Responsibilities

Create a strategic Environmental Plan / System


Develop and lead the implementation of environmental systems, policies and programs.
Ensure compliance with environmental legislation across the organization.
Conduct environmental audits and assessments, to identify and reduce the company's environmental risks and financial costs
Identify and resolve relevant problems and deviations, ensuring the implementation of necessary actions.
Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation, renewable energy and resource consumption.


Product Quality Management


Ensure company policies and standard operating procedures are updated and followed.
Manage and ensure compliance with established protocols and procedures through site inspections.
Monitor and maintain Customer Complaint database
Actively coordinate and participate in external certification, customer and regulatory audits and ensure site compliance
Manage outbound logistics and plant Biosecurity and Salmonella protocols and programs
Actively contribute and participate in Integrated Management Systems compliance and external audits:
ISO,45001 and FSSC 22000
Maintain certification readiness and coordinate the effective close-out and verification of all audit findings and corrective actions.
Maintain and monitor HACCP, TACCP, VACCP, food defence, food fraud, traceability, mock recall and prerequisite programs.


Health & Safety Management


Actively contribute to safety management system
Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and all applicable regulations, together with the HACCP, TACCP and VACCP requirements incorporated in the FSSC 22000 system.
Oversee all occupational health & safety related surveys: noise, ventilation, lighting, exposure to dust and chemical substances and make associated recommendations.
Maintain legal appointments, legal registers, statutory inspections, risk assessments and emergency preparedness requirements.
Lead incident and near-miss investigations, complete root-cause analysis and verify the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.


Human Resource


Promoting and raising awareness to ensure that all levels of the organization recognize and understand their contributions to improved environmental, quality and safety performance
Contribute by facilitating SHEQ training sessions.
Identify training needs
Manage and ensure compliance to employee salmonella program at plant level with technical department
Part-take in disciplinary proceedings
Administrative Functions
Auditing, analysis and reporting on ISO 45001 and FSSC 22000 system performance and compliance with the OSH Act 85 of 1993 to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies.
Contribute and manage company preparation for Audits
Draft internal audit schedule and ensure compliance
Maintain effective document control and ensure that policies, procedures, registers and records remain current, available and implemented.
Immediately escalate critical legal, safety or food-safety risks and monitor all actions through to verified closure.
