Role Overview:
As the social media Officer, you aren't just a scheduler. You are a cultural navigator, a visual storyteller, and a market scout. Reporting directly to the Senior Content Strategist, you will be the heartbeat of our digital presence, ensuring our brand speaks the language of the streets and the boardrooms with equal ease. You will be responsible for spotting trends before they peak, ideating high-impact content, and capturing the energy of our on-ground activations across Kenya.
Key Responsibilities
Social-First Ideation & Content Creation
Trend Jacking: Monitor social conversations daily to identify emerging trends, memes, and cultural moments. Act fast to pivot these into brand-relevant content.
Mobile Cinematography: Capture high-quality, off-the-fly photo and video content using mobile devices, especially during events or ad-hoc office moments.
Copywriting Mastery: Write compelling captions with the ability to switch seamlessly between Fluent English, Swahili, Sheng, and Swanglish depending on the platform and audience.
Creative Input: Participate in weekly creative sprints to brainstorm campaign angles that go beyond standard product posts.
Market Intelligence & Competitor Scanning
Weekly "Vibe Check": Conduct regular audits of competitors in the asset finance and mobility space. Identify what is landing with their audience and where there are gaps for Mogo to fill.
Feature Tracking: Stay updated on new platform tools (e.g., new Instagram sticker types, YouTube algorithm shifts) and propose how we can be "first to market" in using them locally.
Asset Management & Production Support
Raw Library Ownership: Responsible for organizing and tagging all "raw" mobile footage and photos from events, ensuring the Design and Video Production teams have a searchable bank of B-roll.
Platform Management & Strategy
Primary Ownership: Execute the daily strategy for Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, ensuring consistent growth and engagement.
* Secondary Support: Maintain a reactive and relevant presence on TikTok and X (Twitter).
Social-First Thinking: Ensure every piece of content is optimized for the specific platform (e.g., Hooks for Reels vs. Community building on Facebook).
Performance, Reporting & Paid Media
Insights to Action: Move beyond vanity metrics. Analyze weekly and monthly reports to explain why content performed the way it did and use those insights to inform the next week's creative.
Paid Media Literacy: Assist the performance team with basic knowledge of boosted posts to ensure organic wins are amplified effectively.
On-Ground & Event Coverage
Travel: Travel outside of Nairobi (flights and hotels provided) to cover regional activations and branch launches.
Live Coverage: Lead live coverage that makes followers feel like they are part of the event.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Digital Native: You live on social media and understand the nuances of Kenyan digital sub-cultures.
Linguistic Versatility: Native-level command of Sheng and Swahili; professional-level English.
Technical Skill: Proven ability to edit quick videos (CapCut/InShot) and take aesthetic mobile photos.
Growth Mindset: Innately curious, always learning, and constantly looking for ways to "create value" for the follower.
