Job Purpose
The IT Asset Specialist is responsible to manage all ICT assets (hardware, software and digital resources) throughout their lifecycle to ensure assets are used effectively, ensuring alignment with governance and compliance as well as best practice including ITIL V4 principles and organizational policies. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the assets are tracked, optimised, compliant and cost effective.
Principal Accountabilities
Contribute to the design of the Information Technology Division Strategy and ensure strategies are implemented and integrated within areas of responsibility
Optimise cost through monitoring usage to prevent waste and reduce unnecessary expenses
Participate in IT strategy planning activities to provide insights for smarter purchasing and renewal decisions
Work with Finance and Procurement to align asset management with organisational goals
Provide visibility into asset status for better planning and budgeting
Track IT assets from procurement to disposal
Ensure assets are properly deployed, maintained and retired at the right time
Establish and enforce asset management policies
Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements to avoid legal or financial risks
Maintain a centralised and accurate inventory of all IT assets (hardware, software and licences)
Share metrics and reports with leadership
Liaise with the SAA Assets Management and Supply Chain functions to ensure ICT assets are managed according to organisational policies
Coordinate ICT assets verification processes
Monitor and record movement of all ICT assets
Manage the asset audit processes
Keep record and track all software license keys, images, license, warranty, configs and all asset related controls
Manage and coordinate asset warranties and guarantees
Ownership of end to end asset risks
Collaborate with technical teams for asset transfer and maintenance
Collaborate with departments and educate on responsible use and care of assets
Actively supports and adheres to people processes and plans to deliver on divisional objectives
Provides support to team members to maximise productivity and development
Motivates others and stays abreast of IT developments
Implements asset initiatives with the vision and strategic direction of the Airline
Qualifications & Experience
Grade 12 or equivalent at NQF level 4
ITIL® 4 Specialist: IT Asset Management
A Degree in IT at NQF level 7 with at least 3 - 5 years' experience in assets management within the ICT environment
Good understanding of ICT best practices, ability to provide management reports and good accurate records keeping
