Main Focus Areas
The Infection Prevention Control will be responsible to plan, develop and implement an infection control programme for the hospital using infection control standards and international best practice.
Key Performance Areas: (include but are not limited to)
Aid and assist all hospital employees in managing the prevention, identification and control of infections issues in patients and employees
Plan, develop and implement an infection control programme in keeping with the updated control standards
Notify the Department of Health timeously of diseases where applicable
Organize regular infection control committee meetings and document the proceedings
Maintain an up-to-date infection control file that is available and accessible to all nursing and house-keeping staff
Conduct IPC meeting / audits / risk audits and action infection control critical non-conformances
Daily ward rounds, teaching and upskilling staff, QIP and follow up on Bluebird
Active engagement within the hospital, working with service providers
Complete all monthly reports
Post Requirements: (include but are not limited to)
A relevant nursing qualification in Infection control (1 year Diploma) or 6 months Infection Control certificate.
At least 3-5 years hospital experience in an Infection control post
Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
Compliance with the SANC code for a Registered Nurse and all applicable health care legislations
Compulsory BLS certification
Advanced Computer Literacy
