Main Function
The Station Cashier is responsible for handling all financial transactions at the station, ensuring accurate cash management, proper recording of sales, and excellent customer service.
The role involves processing payments, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting daily station operations.
The ideal candidate must be trustworthy, detail-oriented, and capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment.
Role Responsibilities
Product Cash Handling and Transaction Processing:
Receive and process cash, POS, and other forms of payment from customers.
Issue receipts and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
Balance the cash register at the beginning and end of each shift.
Ensure zero discrepancies between physical cash and recorded sales.
Sales Recording and Documentation:
Accurately record all daily sales transactions.
Maintain proper documentation of cash inflows and outflows.
Prepare and submit daily sales reports to management.
Ensure proper use of POS systems and sales tracking tools.
Customer Service:
Attend to customers promptly and professionally.
Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and payment-related issues.
Ensure a smooth and pleasant customer experience at all times.
Reconciliation and Reporting:
Perform daily cash reconciliation and report discrepancies immediately.
Maintain accurate financial records for audit and review purposes.
Support periodic financial reviews and audits.
Compliance and Internal Control:
Adhere strictly to company cash handling policies and procedures.
Prevent fraud, theft, and unauthorized transactions.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.
Coordination and Support:
Work closely with pump attendants and station supervisors to ensure accurate sales reporting.
Coordinate with the accounts department on financial records and reporting.
Support smooth daily operations of the station.
Health, Safety, and Work Environment:
Maintain a clean, organized, and secure cashier point.
Ensure safe handling and storage of cash at all times.
Follow safety and security guidelines within the station.
Experience / Qualification
OND / HND / Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
2 - 3 years of experience in cashiering or retail operations
Experience in a filling station or retail environment is an added advantage
Basic knowledge of financial reporting and reconciliation
Familiarity with POS systems is an added advantage
