Requirements for the position:
A relevant NQF Level 8 qualification or equivalent, preferably in Information Management, Statistics, or Business/Systems Analysis.
At least five years' relevant experience in student administration and management information / institutional data reporting (that demonstrates familiarity with HEMIS-related requirements).
At least three years' staff management experience.
Demonstrated experience in database and data structure maintenance, interpretation of large datasets, reporting, and policy analysis.
Proficiency in SQL-based database tools.
Strong computer literacy across multiple applications.
Ability to interpret legislation, regulations, and institutional policies.
Knowledge of the higher education sector, with detailed understanding of academic structures and processes.
Sound knowledge of research methodologies and statistical techniques.
Comprehensive understanding of student administrative systems and student record structures.
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to work independently, flexibly, and accurately in a pressured environment.
Proven leadership, organisational, and planning skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to coordinate operations effectively and contribute both independently and as part of a team.

A postgraduate qualification at NQF Level 9.
7 years relevant experience
Experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Business Objects, or Valpac.
Familiarity with UCT policies, procedures, and systems.
Responsibilities include:
Oversee the maintenance, verification, and submission of HEMIS data for all undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Direct and manage the HEMIS student data audit and statutory reporting processes.
Lead audit engagement (external) and develop all timelines for the audit process from initial engagement with external auditor to the final sign off meeting with audit firm and subsequent submission to DHET.
Ensure compliance with DHET regulations, reporting standards, and submission deadlines.
Maintain accurate student, staff, and institutional records in accordance with statutory frameworks.
Develop and implement controls to strengthen data accuracy and integrity.
Liaise with academic and administrative departments to ensure data completeness, accuracy and reliability.
Produce reports and analyses to inform institutional planning and decision-making.
Monitor, interpret, and implement changes to HEMIS procedures, policies, and requirements.
Lead and manage academic administration staff in the preparation of statutory submissions.
Provide training and capacity development to academic and administrative staff on data processes and HEMIS compliance.
Oversee system enhancements to optimise financial subsidisation accuracy.
Offer specialist support at a tactical level to internal stakeholders and, when requested, to external institutions.
