Job Summary


The Supermarket Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the supermarket, supervise staff, monitor customer service, ensure proper product arrangement, and support effective stock and cash management.
The ideal candidate should be organized, responsible,customer-focused, and capable of supervising a team in a busy retail environment.


Key Responsibilities


Supervise the daily activities of supermarket staff.
Assign duties and monitor staff attendance and performance.
Ensure all departments and aisles are properly organized and maintained.
Monitor customer service and ensure customers receive prompt and courteous assistance.
Oversee the activities of cashiers, aisle attendants, and other store personnel.
Monitor stock levels and ensure shelves are adequately stocked.
Support regular stocktaking and investigate discrepancies.
Monitor product arrangement, pricing, labelling, and expiry dates.
Ensure damaged or expired products are identified and reported.
Monitor cashiers and ensure proper cash-handling procedures are followed.
Review daily sales and operational records where required.
Handle basic customer complaints and escalate serious issues to management.
Ensure the supermarket maintains high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Monitor compliance with company policies and procedures.
Report staff, stock, equipment, and operational issues to management.
Assist with receiving and checking deliveries.
Help minimize stock losses, wastage, and product damage.
Ensure smooth opening and closing of the supermarket according to company procedures.
Support staff training and onboarding where necessary.
Prepare or submit daily operational reports to management.
Perform other duties assigned by management.


Requirements


Minimum of OND/HND/BSc in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, or a related field.
Previous experience in supermarket, retail, store management, or a supervisory role is preferred.
Must be computer literate.
Strong leadership and team-management skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Good knowledge of customer service and retail operations.
Basic understanding of inventory and cash management.
Ability to monitor staff and enforce workplace procedures.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Must be responsible, trustworthy, punctual, and disciplined.
Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
Must be willing to work 22 days per month.
