PURPOSE OF ROLE
To lead and manage all tax compliance, planning, and advisory activities across the Konga Group (Konga Online, KTT, Konga Logistics, and Konga Pay), ensuring full compliance with statutory regulations while optimizing the Group's tax position and minimizing tax risk exposure.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Tax Compliance & Reporting
Oversee the accurate computation, timely remittance, and filing of all statutory tax obligations (CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE, etc.).
Review and approve monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns prior to submission.
Ensure compliance with all federal and state tax regulations, including regulatory updates.
Maintain an effective tax compliance calendar for the Group.
Tax Planning & Advisory
Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies to optimize the Group's overall tax position.
Provide advisory support on business transactions, contracts, and new initiatives to ensure tax efficiency.
Identify tax savings opportunities and drive initiatives to improve profitability.
Tax Audit & Regulatory Engagement
Lead and coordinate all tax audits, investigations, and inquiries from tax authorities (e.g., FIRS, LIRS).
Serve as the primary liaison with tax regulators and external consultants.
Ensure proper documentation and defense of tax positions during audits.
Tax Risk Management & Governance
Establish and maintain strong internal controls around tax processes.
Monitor and mitigate tax risks across all business units.
Ensure proper documentation, filing systems, and audit trails for all tax-related activities.
Financial Integration & Reporting
Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate tax treatment in financial reporting.
Review tax provisions and deferred tax computations in line with applicable accounting standards.
Provide tax input into financial statements and management reports.
Process Improvement & Systems
Drive automation and efficiency in tax reporting and compliance processes.
Oversee the maintenance and integrity of the company's tax database.
Ensure proper utilization of accounting and tax systems.
Stakeholder Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with tax authorities and relevant regulatory bodies.
Provide periodic tax updates and insights to senior management.
Support cross-functional teams on tax-related matters.
Team Leadership
Supervise and develop tax team members.
Allocate responsibilities and ensure high performance within the tax function.
Provide coaching and technical guidance to junior staff.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCETechnical Knowledge
Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and regulations (CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE, Transfer Pricing, etc.).
Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
Experience in handling tax audits and regulatory engagements.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Professional certification (ICAN / ACCA) - mandatory
Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in tax
