The Tax Manager - Sub Sahara Africa is responsible for managing all tax matters across the SSA region, ensuring compliance with local tax legislation, optimizing the tax position of the company, and supporting business operations with expert tax advisory. The role includes direct tax, indirect tax, transfer pricing, tax audits, tax governance, and coordination with external advisors and tax authorities across multiple jurisdictions.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with excellent stakeholder management skills, supporting both strategic and operational tax activities across the region.
What We Ask
Education & Professional Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Taxation, or related field.
Professional qualification preferred (ACCA, CPA, CTA, CA, or equivalent).
Advanced Tax or Finance certifications are a plus.
Experience
6 - 10 years of progressive tax experience, ideally in multinational companies or Big Four firms.
Strong knowledge of tax laws across Sub Sahara Africa (East, West, and/or Southern Africa).
Experience with tax compliance, advisory, and tax audit management.
Exposure to transfer pricing and international tax principles.
Skills & Competencies

Ability to work across multiple jurisdictions and manage complex regulatory environments.
High integrity and confidentiality.
Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics) is an advantage.

Vacancy Description
Tax Compliance & Reporting
Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns across SSA (corporate income tax, withholding tax, VAT/GST, payroll taxes, etc.).
Oversee preparation of tax provisions and support month end and year end financial close processes.
Review tax computations, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
Monitor tax compliance calendars and ensure no delays or penalties.
Tax Advisory & Business Support
Provide tax advice on business transactions, contracts, new market entries, restructurings, and cross border activities.
Assess tax implications of new laws and regulatory changes across SSA countries.
Guide commercial, HR, and procurement teams on tax efficient decision making.
Support tax aspects of employee mobility and expatriate assignments (if applicable).
Tax Risk Management & Governance
Implement and maintain tax governance frameworks aligned with corporate standards.
Proactively identify tax risks and opportunities and recommend mitigation strategies.
Ensure documentation and controls are audit ready.
Transfer Pricing
Maintain SSA aligned transfer pricing documentation in line with global TP policies.
Support transfer pricing planning, benchmarking, and intercompany agreements.
Assist with TP audits, information requests, and country by country reporting inputs.
Tax Audits & Controversy Management
Manage tax audits, assessments, and disputes across SSA, working with external advisors where needed.
Prepare responses to information requests and defend tax positions.
Negotiate settlements and ensure appropriate documentation.
Stakeholder Management
Act as the regional tax point of contact for leadership, finance teams, and other internal stakeholders.
Coordinate with external tax advisors, auditors, and local tax authorities.
Provide tax training and awareness sessions to non tax teams.
Process Improvement & Automation
Identify opportunities for standardization and automation of tax processes.
Support implementation of digital tax solutions and data analytics tools.
Enhance quality and efficiency of tax operations across the region.
