Main duties:


Able to procure, issue and distribute materials, products, parts and supplies based on information from incoming requisitions. Identify long-lead items and advise the chain of command.
Receiving deliveries from the suppliers, ensuring that the goods and products are not damage and everything ordered is present and accounted for.
Organising the return of faulty goods and products to the supplier.
Determine proper storage methods, identification and stock rotation based on turnover and physical capabilities of the facility.
Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting damages and initiating repair or replacement procedures.
Adhere to procedures relating to the proper security, use and care of equipment and materials for which the role has responsibility.
Ensure Value for Money when acquiring stores in respect to suitability, cost, maintainability, and quality.
Conduct stock checks and audit.
Sending the calibrating tools and equipment's for calibration using the correct MoD chain and procedures.
Inspecting the serviceability of the tools and equipment's after use from Tradesman and keeping the record.
Operate Prom PCT for accounting of infrastructure stores.
Escorting Suppliers and contractors when they visit GE Dept.


Secondary duties:


Work can be performed away from the duty station at other well established BATUK locations for prolonged periods.
Work can be performed away from the duty station at other austere BATUK locations for short periods.
Work is performed indoors and outside. The work requires frequent standing, walking and occasional bending, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, crawling, reaching, grasping and lifting and/or moving objects.
Employees are subject to call-back during emergencies on a 24-hours basis and are required to work occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays during special events.
Carry out any other duties commensurate with the trade/grade as directed by the MLM.


Competences/qualifications/experience:

Essential:


Proven certificate in supply chain management
Communicate in English clearly and concisely, both orally and in written.
A firm understanding of stock rotation & storage methods.
Ability to use a computer to acquire stores online and maintain accounts.
Have a good working knowledge of local suppliers, basic prices and delivery costs/ timelines.
Familiarity with MS Word & MS Excel for accounting.
Clean and valid Kenyan driving licence.


Desirable:


Hold a valid MHE / Industrial Forklift Licence.
Completed Manual Handling Training
Previous experience of running or maintaining a medium sized storage facility.


Training Requirements:


Specialist computers and departmental software accounting applications.
Health and Safety at Work.
COSHH awareness.
Equipment Care including Use and Maintenance.
Manual Handling Training.
Military specific driving assessment/ conversion.
