Purpose of the Role
The Tracking Officer is responsible for always keeping tracking information strictly confidential and ensuring that all financed assets are properly equipped with functioning tracking devices and that real-time tracking signals are consistently monitored.
This role is critical to asset security, risk management, and timely intervention in cases of non-payment or potential asset loss.
The Tracking Officer works closely with Collections, Asset Recovery, Head of Operations, Business Head and external Law Enforcement Officers (security agencies, Police, etc.) to ensure the company always has accurate visibility of its financed assets.
Key Responsibilities
Tracking Device Installation Verification:
Confirm that tracking devices have been correctly installed in each asset before delivery to clients.
Verify the installations through system tests, device diagnostics, and signal confirmations.
Ensure trackers are functioning with zero errors at the time of asset handover.
Maintain installation verification records for audit and operational purposes.
Daily Asset Tracking G Monitoring:
Monitor all tracked assets daily to ensure they are transmitting tracking signals as expected.
Review dashboards / tracking alerts to identify anomalies, signal loss, tampering, or suspicious movements.
Flag unusual activity immediately to the relevant internal teams.
Maintain accurate tracking logs and daily reports on system performance and assets' status.
Immediate Response to Tracking Issues:
Take prompt corrective action whenever a tracking device shows malfunction, intermittent signals, tampering, or complete signal loss.
Coordinate with technical team, installers, or Field Technicians to diagnose and resolve issues quickly.
Escalate unresolved issues to the Asset Recovery Team, Collections Team, Head of Operations, and / or Business Head as required.
Ensure all issues are resolved as swiftly as possible and document the full incident and resolution steps.
Cross-Team Collaboration G Support
Work closely with the Collections Team and Recovery Team (for impounding cases) to provide accurate asset location information, especially for clients in arrears.
Support the Asset Recovery Team by supplying real-time tracking updates, movement reports, and last- known location data during repossession or recovery efforts.
Maintain open, professional communication with the company's Business Head and submit reports when required.
Participate in operational meetings and contribute to improving tracking policies and procedures.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Performance will be measured using indicators such as:
Percentage of assets with confirmed, functioning trackers prior to delivery
Daily monitoring compliance rate (100% of portfolio monitored)
Response time to tracking malfunctions or signal loss
Accuracy and completeness of tracking logs, reports, and escalations
Effectiveness in supporting Collections and Asset Recovery outcomes
Device uptime and overall tracking system performance
Required ÃÂÃÂÃÂêualifications G Experience
High School Completion Certificate required; certification or training in electronics, tracking systems, or IT is an advantage.
1 - 3 years' experience in vehicle tracking, fleet monitoring, security systems, or related technical roles.
Familiarity with GPS/GSM tracking technologies and tracking platforms.
Experience working in asset finance, logistics, fleet operations, or similar industries is beneficial.
