Our client, a leading transport company committed to delivering efficient and reliable supply chain solutions, is seeking to recruit a proactive and highly organized Transport Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day transport operations and ensure the efficient deployment of vehicles, drivers, Port clerks and other transport resources.

Purpose of the Role


Maintaining high service standards, ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting safety, and supporting the achievement of operational objectives.


Role Accountabilities


Supervise daily transport operations to ensure timely, safe and efficient delivery of services.
Coordinate vehicle scheduling, routing and driver assignments to maximize fleet circulation.
Monitor loading and offloading activities to ensure timely release of vehicles and maximize on fleet utilization.
Monitor vehicle movements and respond promptly to operational challenges to minimize service disruptions.
Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy and that maintenance schedules are adhered to.
Supervise drivers and port clerks, ensuring compliance with company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and traffic regulations.
Conduct daily vehicle and driver inspections and ensure all required operations documentation is complete and up to date.
Monitor fuel consumption, vehicle performance and operating costs, and report variances to the Transport Manager.
Investigate operations incidents, accidents and customer complaints, and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain accurate operations records and prepare daily, weekly and monthly operational reports.
Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
Provide on-the-job coaching, guidance and support to drivers and clerks to improve performance.
Work closely with internal departments and customers to ensure efficient service delivery.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Transport Manager.


Qualifications and Education Requirements:


Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Transport Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Management or a related field.
Minimum of 3 - 5 years experience in transport, fleet or logistics operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Sound understanding of transport operations, fleet management and road safety regulations.
Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills.

Good knowledge of fleet management principles and transport compliance requirements
Experience supervising drivers and coordinating transport activities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and transport management systems is an added advantage.
High level of integrity, accountability and attention to detail.
