Job Summary


The Treasury Specialist is responsible for safeguarding the Company's liquidity, optimizing cash flow, managing banking relationships and foreign exchange exposure, ensuring the integrity of treasury accounting records, and executing all treasury transactions in compliance with approved policies, regulatory requirements, and internal controls. The role supports the Company's financial sustainability by ensuring adequate funding, efficient cash deployment, and effective treasury risk management.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties)

Foreign Exchange (FX) Management


Source, negotiate, and execute FX transactions (spot and forward, where available) through banks, the official window, and approved channels in line with CBN regulations.
Monitor daily FX rates and market conditions; advise the Finance Director on optimal timing and pricing of conversions.
Manage Form M, Form A, and related documentation for imports and offshore payments, ensuring full regulatory compliance.


Bank & Ledger Reconciliation


Perform and review daily, weekly, monthly or when required bank reconciliations across all company accounts Naira and domiciliary — ensuring all reconciling items are investigated and cleared within agreed timelines.
Reconcile treasury-related general ledger accounts (cash, bank, intercompany funding, accrued interest, FX gain/loss) and resolve discrepancies with the financial reporting team.
Maintain a clean, auditable reconciliation trail; own the resolution of aged or unexplained items and escalate exceptions promptly.


Posting & Ledger Integrity


Ensure accurate and timely posting of all treasury transactions — receipts, payments, bank charges, interest, FX conversions, and revaluations — into the ERP/accounting system.
Apply correct GL coding, cost center allocation, and supporting documentation to every posting.
Compute and post monthly FX revaluation entries on foreign currency balances in line with applicable accounting standards (IAS 21).


Payment Scheduling & Execution


Prepare and manage the daily, weekly, and monthly payments schedule covering vendors, site landlords/lease obligations, payroll funding, debt service, and statutory remittances (taxes, pensions, levies).
Prioritize payments against available liquidity and cash flow forecasts; present the schedule to the Director, Finance for review and approval.
Manage payment confirmations, advice to vendors, and resolution of failed or delayed transactions.


Cash & Liquidity Management


Support the preparation of 13-week rolling cash flow forecasts and daily cash position reports across all entities and accounts.
Manage intercompany funding flows and ensure appropriate documentation of intercompany positions.


Banking Relationships & Facilities.


Serve as day-to-day contact with relationship banks; negotiate charges, rates, and service levels.
Manage account opening/closure, mandates, and signatory updates.


Controls, Compliance & Reporting


Maintain and enforce treasury policies, authorization matrices, and segregation-of-duties controls.
Support internal and external audits with timely provision of reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documents.
Produce monthly treasury reports: bank charges analysis and payment performance.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the line manager.


Requirements

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum) & SKILLS


B.Sc./HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
Professional qualification is an added advantage.
Minimum of 2-5 years' finance experience, with at least 2 years in a treasury-focused role. Experience in telecoms infrastructure or another capital-intensive sector is a strong advantage.
Demonstrable hands-on experience with FX sourcing and importing documentation is an added advantage.
Working knowledge of an ERP system and advanced Excel skills is an added advantage.
Sound judgement in prioritizing payments under liquidity constraints, and the confidence to defend those calls.
Strong negotiation and relationship management skills with banks and financial institutions.
High integrity and discretion in handling sensitive financial information and funds movement.
Ability to work to tight month-end and payment-cycle deadlines with minimal supervision.
