Main Focus Areas
The Unit Manager will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring that quality nursing care and service delivery is implemented and practiced within a multi-disciplinary team. In accordance, the Unit Manager will be accountable and responsible for coordinating capacity building, mentoring, coaching, training, and development in their Unit.ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ
Key Performance Areas: (include but are not limited to)
Ensure that your Unit is providing safe, cost-effective quality patient care in line with the clinical governance strategy of hospital and evidence-based practice.ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ
Evaluate the patient's journey via patient experience and stakeholder contribution.ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ
Evaluate and monitor nursing quality indicators and clinical outcomes.ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ
Communicate effectively with patients regarding their care.ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ
Promote health and wellbeing of patients and employees.ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ
Ensure the principles of infection prevention and all internal standard precautions are adhered to.ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ
Implement group quality initiatives.ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ
Liaise with public liabiltiy with regard to all incidents of potential risk to the business.ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ
Post Requirements: (include but are not limited to)
A relevant nursing qualification (Diploma /B Cur degree in nursing).ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ
Post basic qualification in Midwifery and Management essential.ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ
Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ
Compliance with the SANC code for a Registered Nurse and all applicable health care legislations.ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ
Compulsory BLS certification.ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ
Advanced computer literacy.ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ
3-5 years Unit Manager experience in Maternity ward essential.ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ
