Job Advert Summary
We are looking for an experienced Warehouse Supervisor to supervise and coordinate warehouse operations, ensuring that stock is received, stored, handled, picked, loaded and dispatched safely, accurately and efficiently.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting customer service, ensuring effective use of resources, maintaining SHEQ compliance and leading the warehouse team to achieve required operational standards.
Minimum Requirements
Required Qualifications / Experience:
Minimum Grade 12 / NQF Level 4.
Relevant qualifications in Warehousing, Logistics, Supply Chain or Operations Management would be advantageous.
Minimum 3 years' experience in stock, warehouse or distribution operations.
Previous experience supervising warehouse employees.
Experience coordinating inventory, loading, offloading and dispatch activities.
Working knowledge of SAP / ERP or warehouse systems.
Good knowledge of stock and inventory control processes.
Knowledge of SHEQ and material-handling requirements.
Computer literate with working knowledge of MS Excel and Outlook.
Valid forklift and overhead crane licenses are advantageous.
Good planning, organising and communication skills.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop employees.
Customer-focused with good problem-solving and conflict-handling skills.
Prepared to work overtime, weekends and outside normal working hours when operationally required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations and Stock Control
Coordinate receiving, storage, picking, material handling and stock movement in line with operational requirements.
Ensure stock is correctly identified, stored and protected.
Maintain inventory accuracy through effective stock checks, stock allocation and routine cycle counts.
Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies.
Ensure warehouse systems and material-handling equipment are used correctly and effectively.
Loading, Dispatch and Service Delivery
Coordinate loading, offloading and dispatch activities to ensure customer deliveries are completed on time and in full.
Ensure materials, quantities and relevant documentation are checked and verified before vehicles are released.
Coordinate warehouse workflow, labour allocation and vehicle turnaround times.
Address operational exceptions and delays to maintain effective service delivery.
SHEQ, Equipment and Risk Management
Ensure compliance with SHEQ requirements, safe working procedures and material-handling standards.
Maintain acceptable housekeeping, stacking and storage standards throughout the warehouse.
Monitor the condition, availability and safe use of warehouse equipment and operational assets.
Ensure required inspections, risk assessments, PPE controls and corrective actions are completed.
People Supervision and Performance
Plan, organise and monitor employee activities to achieve warehouse objectives and service standards.
Manage employee attendance, timekeeping, performance and discipline in line with company requirements.
Allocate labour according to operational requirements.
Coach and develop employees to improve capability, productivity and performance.
Promote teamwork, accountability and adherence to operational standards.
Administration, Cost Control and Continuous Improvement
Maintain accurate operational records, timesheets, inventory documentation and management information.
Monitor overtime, waste, re-deliveries, turnaround times and other controllable operational costs.
Identify and support practical improvements to warehouse processes, productivity, quality and customer service.
Perform any reasonable and lawful tasks as required by management.
