Activities
Manage the overall operations of the workshop, ensuring the availability and reliability of piling, foundation, and heavy construction equipment.
Plan, schedule, and oversee preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance activities for all plant and machinery.
Supervise workshop personnel, including supervisors, mechanics, electricians, hydraulic technicians, welders, and fabricators.
Ensure timely repair and maintenance of rotary piling rigs, CFA rigs, crawler cranes, excavators, generators, compressors, batching plants, and other heavy equipment.
Coordinate equipment mobilization and demobilization to project sites across Lagos, Port Harcourt, and other locations in Nigeria.
Monitor equipment performance, downtime, and maintenance costs, implementing continuous improvement initiatives to maximize fleet availability.
Manage workshop budgets, maintenance expenditures, and cost control measures.
Oversee spare parts planning, inventory management, procurement, and stock control to minimize equipment downtime.
Ensure compliance with OEM maintenance standards, company procedures, and statutory safety regulations.
Lead equipment inspections, fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, and reliability improvement programs.
Implement and monitor workshop KPIs, including equipment availability, preventive maintenance compliance, MTTR, and MTBF.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, service histories, inspection reports, and equipment documentation.
Ensure compliance with HSE policies, safe work practices, and environmental standards within the workshop.
Provide technical support and maintenance guidance to project site maintenance teams.
Develop, mentor, and evaluate workshop staff to enhance technical competency and operational performance.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum 10 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance, with at least 5 years in a Workshop Manager or similar leadership role.
Proven experience in the piling, foundation, heavy construction, mining, or oil & gas industry.
Strong knowledge of rotary piling rigs, drilling equipment, crawler cranes, hydraulic systems, diesel engines, generators, and heavy construction machinery.
Experience in preventive maintenance planning, equipment reliability, and fleet management.
Strong understanding of hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and fabrication systems.
Experience managing workshop operations, maintenance budgets, and spare parts inventory.
Knowledge of CMMS or maintenance management systems is preferred.
Strong leadership, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multicultural teams.
Sound knowledge of HSE standards, equipment safety regulations, and quality management systems.
Ability to travel to project sites across Nigeria as required.
