Provides support to strategic planning at both a City-Wide Level or within specific geographic locations.
Prepares base plans and conceptual plans for land use plans, development plans and development applications.
Supports the co-ordination and accuracy of the spatial planning system by preparing, approval, monitoring and review of policy, land use plans, development plans and development applications.
Undertakes statutory planning and development application assessments.
Performs a liaison and co-ordination function.
Supports the management of information.
Provides information required to process development applications and initiate development plans.
Supports special programmes and projects.
Provides technical information, advice and guidelines to all stakeholders, including other spheres of government and civil society.
Undertakes administrative duties as may be required.
Gathers and collates statistical information on all plans and planning processes.

Undertakes the evaluation of non-statutory development proposals.
Assists with community and advocacy planning.
Manages projects of limited scale and complexity.
Undertakes research and policy development.
Provides information required to process development applications and initiate development plans.
Supports special programmes and projects.
Provides technical information, advice and guidelines to all stakeholders, including other spheres of government and civil society.
Oversees, mentors, manages and directs the activities of students and candidate technical planners within the department.
Gathers and collates statistical information on all plans and planning processes.
Essential Requirements:
Diploma (NQF Level 6) or equivalent in Town and Regional Planning
Eligible to register as a Technical Planner with the South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN).
Valid motor vehicle driving license.
3 Years relevant experience.
Computer Literacy
