Key Responsibility Areas:


Identifies and defines the immediate, short- and long-term objectives associated with the management of economic development in the eThekwini Region
Directs and controls outcomes associated with unitization, productivity and performance of personnel within the Directorate.
Manages the Directorate's financial performance against the budget and evaluates the financial impact of aligning and/ or introducing new approaches and methodologies to achieve service delivery requirements.
Directs the implementation or development of review of policy directives and procedural guidelines to support the application and execution of functional responsibilities and maintain compliance.
Manages and aligns processes related to defining contractual obligations against the general principles of law and statutory regulations.
Directs and controls the functions mandated with the delivery and continuous improvement of multi-disciplinary high impact economic development programmes. Disseminating strategic and functional information on the immediate, short and long term objectives and current applications and constraints
Directs and executes the administrative and reporting requirements associated with key performance and result indicators of the functionality.
Directs the critical operational requirements associated with the management of trading facilities in the form of retail and flea markets.
Directs and controls the functions associated with the development operations and maintenance of Bulk Fresh Produce Market Facilities.
Directs the conceptual planning and interventions associated with promoting the region as a tourism destination.
Oversees the preparation of management reports inclusive of annual reports, business case proposals and interim reports on the functions, performance and contribution of the Directorate to the Departments objectives.


Essential Requirements:


Degree (NQF Level 7) in Economics or Development Studies or Business Management or any other related and equivalent qualification.
Valid motor vehicle driving license.
9 years relevant experience at a management level of which 4 years must be at a Senior Management level.


Preferred Requirements:


Post Graduate Qualification (NQF Level 8) in Local Economic Development or Economics or Development Studies or Business Management or any other related and equivalent qualification.
10 years relevant experience at a management level of which 5 years must be at a senior management level.
