Description
The Account / Audit Officer is responsible for managing core accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and strengthening internal control and audit processes within organization.
The role involves overseeing financial transactions, conducting internal audits, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company policies.
The role ensures accuracy, timeliness, and integrity in financial reporting while supporting the organization in making informed financial decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, examine, and maintain accurate financial records, statements, and reports.
Post and reconcile journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
Manage payroll processing and ensure timely payment of salaries and statutory deductions (e.g., tax, pensions, NHF).
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and budgets.
Manage bank reconciliations, cash flows monitoring, and general ledger activities.
Review financial transactions, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions.
Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and reports, and ensuring compliance with established controls and procedures.
Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws, financial regulations, and accounting standards.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to support management decision-making.
Track company expenses, prepare cost analyses, and recommend cost-saving measures.
Develop and strengthen internal control systems to mitigate financial risks
Work closely with procurement, HR, and operations teams to align financial procedures.
Requirements
Candidate must reside in Abuja, Preferably around Utako.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
Proven work experience as an Accountant or in a similar role for at least a year.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, audit processes and tax regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Tally, or ERP systems) and MS Excel.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
High level of integrity and confidentiality.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
