The Aluminium & Glass Technician - Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of technicians in the fabrication, installation, repair, and maintenance of aluminium and glass systems. This role ensures all works are executed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency, while coordinating project requirements, supervising daily activities, and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Operational Duties
Oversee fabrication and installation of aluminium doors, windows, curtain walls, partitions, balustrades, and related glass systems.
Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and shop drawings, and guide technicians accordingly.
Ensure precise measurement, cutting, assembly, glazing, and finishing processes.
Conduct inspections during and after installation to ensure quality workmanship.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on-site and in the workshop.
Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment.
Team Supervision & Leadership
Supervise, train, and mentor aluminium and glass technicians.
Allocate tasks and manage daily work schedules.
Monitor team performance to maintain productivity and workmanship standards.
Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with workplace regulations.
Project Coordination
Liaise with project managers, architects, contractors, and clients to clarify project requirements.
Support preparation of materials lists, cutting lists, and fabrication plans.
Coordinate material deliveries, manage inventory, and reduce wastage.
Ensure project timelines are met and report progress to management.
Quality Assurance & Safety
Implement and maintain quality control procedures throughout all processes.
Ensure installations meet specification, structural integrity, and aesthetic standards.
Enforce site and workshop safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
Conduct toolbox talks and promote a culture of safety awareness.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain records of daily activities, materials usage, and project progress.
Prepare incident reports, snag lists, and quality assurance documentation.
Support cost estimations and assist with project planning when required.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 5+ years hands-on experience in aluminium and glass systems, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Strong understanding of fabrication processes, architectural drawings, and installation techniques.
Knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards.
Proficient in using fabrication machinery, installation tools, and measuring equipment.
