Job Summary:
The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is responsible for driving sales growth, achieving distribution objectives, and ensuring the company's diaper and sanitary pad brands are effectively represented across retail, wholesale, and modern trade outlets within Lagos Island territories.
This role requires an experienced FMCG professional with strong trade management, team leadership, and market execution skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver monthly and quarterly sales targets for the company's product within the assigned area.
Develop and implement strategic sales plans to expand product reach and market penetration.
Monitor and manage distributor sales performance, stock levels, and order cycles.
Drive both primary (distributor) and secondary (retail) sales within the coverage area.
Identify new sales opportunities and expand numeric distribution in target locations across Lagos Island
Ensure consistent product availability and visibility in key channels — open markets, supermarkets, pharmacies, and modern trade.
Strengthen distribution structure by developing capable sub-distributors and retail partnerships.
Ensure optimal route planning and daily call efficiency for the sales team.
Lead, train, and motivate Sales Representatives, Van Salesmen, and Merchandisers to meet sales and coverage targets.
Conduct regular field visit and market coaching to improve execution discipline.
Monitor competitor activities and report market intelligence to management.
Provide accurate and timely sales reports, stock updates, and market feedback.
Analyze performance trends and recommend actionable strategies to improve territory results.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, Business Administration, or any related discipline.
2-3 years of experience in FMCG sales, preferably within the diaper, sanitary pad or food and beverage industry if FMCG distribution experience is strong.
Proven experience managing distributors and retail channels in Lagos, precisely Lagos Island, Ajah and Ibeju-Lekki.
Strong knowledge of the Lagos Island markets — including key distributors, open markets, and modern trade outlets.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Candidate must reside in environs of the above location
