Job Description


A leading road construction and machinery manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Area Sales Manager with a proven track record in capital equipment and machinery sales.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing key customer accounts and sales territories, driving new business development, preparing technical proposals and commercial quotations, and achieving regional sales targets.
The role requires a commercially driven individual with strong relationship management skills and experience within the machinery manufacturing, construction equipment, or heavy industrial sectors.


Responsibilities:


Manage assigned sales territories and key customer accounts to achieve sales and revenue targets.
Develop new business opportunities while maintaining and growing existing customer relationships.
Build and maintain effective communication with customers, dealers, and internal stakeholders.
Prepare and submit quotations, tenders, presentations, bids, and commercial proposals.
Participate in contract negotiations and commercial agreement discussions.
Conduct market research to identify industry trends, customer requirements, competitor activity, and potential opportunities.
Develop and implement sales strategies to increase market share and business growth.
Monitor market conditions and provide regular feedback on industry developments and competitor activity.
Attend trade shows, exhibitions, seminars, and customer events to promote products and strengthen industry relationships.
Prepare regular sales forecasts, reports, and territory performance updates.
Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through professional sales and after-sales support.
Carry out any additional duties required to support business objectives.


Requirements:


Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in capital equipment, machinery, or technical sales.
Previous experience within the road construction, asphalt, heavy equipment, or machinery manufacturing industry is highly advantageous.
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and developing new business.
Strong commercial, negotiation, presentation, and account management skills.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Fluent in English; additional Southern African languages would be advantageous.
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region.
