Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, one must have:


Be a Kenyan Citizen;
Served in the grade of Principal Records Management Officer or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service for a minimum period of three (3) years;
a Bachelor's degree in Information Science/Records Management or in any of the Social Sciences from a recognized institution;
a Master's degree in Information Science/Records Management or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution; and
Shown outstanding professional competence and administrative ability in the management of the records function.


Duties and Responsibilities


Initiation, development, interpretation and implementation of records management policies, guidelines and procedures;
Training and career development of Records Management Staff and their deployment and utilization;
Efficient and effective management of registry services;
Preparation and submission of budget estimates for registries;
Initiation and disposal of files, documents and other records in accordance with Government regulations; and
Supervision, guidance and development of staff working under him/her.
