JOB PURPOSE
To support undergraduate teaching, research, innovation, field engagement and enterprise-oriented activities in Agribusiness, while undergoing structured academic and professional development towards full lecturing responsibilities in line with UAST Ihugh's mandate for sustainable, enterprise-driven agriculture and Africa-focused development.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching and Learning Support
Assist in teaching undergraduate courses in Agribusiness and related areas.
Conduct tutorials, practicals, case studies and field-based learning sessions.
Support preparation of course materials, lecture notes and assessment instruments in line with NUC C-CMAS.
Assist in continuous assessment, examinations, grading and result processing under supervision.
Research and Scholarly Development
Participate in departmental and school-based research activities.
Assist in data collection, field surveys, economic analysis and research documentation.
Co-author scholarly publications, technical reports or policy briefs.
Support grant proposals and applied research initiatives relevant to agribusiness and food systems.
Innovation, Enterprise and Extension
Support agribusiness field projects linked to UAST Farms, cooperatives and value-chain actors.
Participate in agribusiness incubation, enterprise development and extension programmes.
Assist in training programmes for farmers, SMEs and agribusiness stakeholders.
Academic Development and Capacity Building
Enrol in and make satisfactory progress in a PhD programme in Agribusiness or a closely related discipline.
Participate in staff development, pedagogy training and digital learning initiatives.
Demonstrate continuous improvement in teaching competence and research capability.
Administrative and Institutional Service
Assist in departmental administration and assigned committee work.
Comply with University regulations, ethical standards and academic policies.
Contribute to a collegial, innovative and performance-oriented academic environment.
Any other specific duties and responsibilities as may assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Academic Qualifications (Mandatory)
A good Bachelor's degree (First Class or Second Class Upper Division) in:ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂè
Agribusiness
Agricultural Economics
Agricultural Extension & Rural Development
Agricultural Management
or a closely related discipline from a recognised university.
A Master's degree in Agribusiness or a related discipline.
Evidence of active enrolment in a relevant PhD programme could serve an added advantage.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
3 years relevant post-graduation experience.
Prior experience in research assistance, agribusiness enterprises, extension services, NGOs, cooperatives or agrifood industry shall be an added advantage.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Foundational knowledge of agribusiness and agricultural value chains.
Basic competence in farm budgeting, market analysis or economic evaluation.
Research aptitude and analytical thinking.
Digital literacy and willingness to adopt technology-enabled teaching and research tools.
Good communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
