Requirements :


Basic qualification accredited with SANC in terms of Government Notice 425 or equivalent qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse plus a post basic diploma in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with SANC.
A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
At least 6 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification in the relevant speciality.
At least 3 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience at management level, preferably operational manager level.
Diploma/Degree in Nursing Administration / Health Service Management and Computer literacy are required.


Duties :


The candidate must be able to work in a busy high-pressured environment and lead a team to resolve conflict, maintain quality patient care, manage patient complaints and patient safety incidents and daily patient opinion surveys and work within the legal and ethical framework that governs the profession.
Manage staff, adhere to cost containment measures, and provide supervision to subordinates and multidisciplinary staff. Ability to work independently. Manage human resources, leave management and performance management.
Good communication and report writing skills. Knowledge of nursing care processes and procedures, nursing statutes, and other relevant legal frameworks such as: Nursing Act, Health Act, OHS Act, Patient Rights Charter, Batho-Pele principles, Public Service regulations, Labour Relations Act, Disciplinary Code and Procedure, Grievance Procedure, etc.
Skills: Leadership, organizational, decision making and problem-solving abilities within the limit of the public sector and institutional policy framework. Must be computer literate (Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint, outlook) and be able to analyse data. The candidate must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills at the interview and complete a short Quality Improvement Plan as part of the introduction, immediately before the interview.
Coordination of optimal, holistic specialised nursing care provided within set standards of a professional/ legal framework. Effectively manage the utilisation and supervision of human, financial and material resources. Co-ordination of the provision of effective training and research. Provision of effective support to nursing services. Maintain professional growth, ethical standards, and self-development.
