Requirements :
Basic R425 Qualification (i.e. diploma /degree in nursing or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the SANC as a professional nurse. Registration with S.A.N.C as a Professional nurse.
Minimum of (8) years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 3 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognizable experience at management level.
Post basic Degree/ Diploma in Nursing Administration / Health Service management. Post basic Degree/ Diploma in Nursing Education will be an added advantage.

Duties :
Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices and how this impact on service delivery. Ensure that the clinical nursing practice by the nursing team is rendered in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards as determined by the relevant health facility.
Promote quality of nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice and standards as determined by the relevant health facility. Demonstrate a basic understanding of human resources and financial policies and practices. Demonstrate a basic understanding of the legislative framework governing the public service (Nursing Act, OHS Act, Patient Rights Charter, Batho Pele principles, Public Service regulations, Labour Relations Act, Disciplinary Code and Procedure, Grievance Procedure, Ideal Hospital Realization framework, Basic conditions of employment Act, Determination of Leave Policy etc).
Financial and Budgetary knowledge pertaining to the relevant resources under management. Delegate, supervise and coordinate provision of effective and efficient patient care. Initiate and participate in health promotion to ensure consistent communication of relevant accurate information on health care. Participate in the analysis, formulation and implementation of Nursing guidelines, practices, standards, and procedures. Management of Human and Material resources, upskilling of staff to ensure quality care. Ability to direct a multi-disciplinary team to ensure quality nursing care at the facility level.
Ability to manage own work and that of the units and to ensure appropriate interventions to enhance nursing services at facility level. Able to develop and maintain a nursing service environment that promotes the rights of patients, advocating and facilitating proper treatment and care, ensuring that the principles of Batho Pele are adhered to. Manage PMDS of subordinates.
Ability to manage complaints effectively. Demonstrate the ability to plan staffing, conduct performance evaluations, manage staff overtime, manage conflict and maintain staff morale and productivity. Ability to manage budget, cost monitoring, and financial management.
Possess the ability to develop and oversee quality assurance and improvement programs and ensure compliance with the Ideal Hospital Realization Framework. Demonstrate strong analytical and decision-making skills to address operational issues and resolve service-related issues.
