Responsibilities:
Present lectures to Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.
Develop new course/module material as well as practical guides for undergraduate, Short Learning Programmes (SLPs) and/or postgraduate.
Participate in research production and supervision of Undergraduate and Postgraduate students in the department/faculty.
Participation in voluntary associations and/or professional bodies.
Active participation in the department's administration activities
Publish peer-reviewed articles each year in recognized scientific or academic journals and present papers at both national and international conferences, aligning with the level of appointment. *
Host PostDoctoral Research Fellows (PDRFs).
Secure research funding from external sources, including national and international funding agencies and industry partners.
Contribute to the advancement of Civil Engineering science through industrial work, community involvement, and active participation in voluntary associations.
Support the University of Johannesburg's Global Excellence and Stature (GES) 4.0 goals.
Adapt to the evolving changes brought by the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) in academia.
Actively participate in the university's core strategic focus areas and themes.
Minimum requirements
PhD in Civil Engineering
A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years' teaching experience at a tertiary institution
Evidence of research outputs at DHET accredited Journals
Proof of postgraduate supervision as main supervisor
Evidence of presentations at national and international conferences.
A track record or willingness to apply for external research funding.
Evidence of community and/or industrial involvement, as well as national and international collaboration with academia and/or industry, would be beneficial.
Registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) or must undertake to do so within one year of joining the department.
Experience with ECSA Graduate Attribute (GA).
A minimum of three (3) years' industrial experience.
NRF rated or eligible to apply for NRF rating within one year.
