Role Overview
The AV Technician is responsible for the installation, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and servicing of audio-visual equipment. The role ensures that AV systems and equipment are functioning efficiently and meet required technical, quality, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Setup:
Install, configure, and commission AV equipment such as televisions, projectors, sound systems, speakers, amplifiers, microphones, and display systems.
Set up AV systems at customer locations, offices, showrooms, and service centres.
Conduct equipment testing and calibration after installation.
Troubleshooting & Repairs:
Diagnose and resolve technical faults in AV equipment and systems.
Carry out repairs and component replacements in line with approved technical procedures.
Identify recurring faults and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
Preventive Maintenance:
Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance of AV equipment.
Ensure equipment is properly configured, cleaned, tested, and maintained to minimize breakdowns.
Maintain accurate records of equipment servicing and repairs.
Technical Support:
Provide technical assistance and guidance to customers, sales teams, and other departments.
Explain equipment functionality, operation, and basic maintenance procedures to customers.
Escalate complex technical issues to the AV Supervisor or relevant technical team.
Service & Warranty Support:
Handle assigned service requests and warranty-related technical issues.
Ensure repairs are completed within the approved turnaround time.
Verify repaired equipment before release to customers.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, service calls, parts used, and equipment status.
Prepare service reports and provide updates on outstanding technical issues.
Document recurring equipment faults and recommend improvements.
Health, Safety & Compliance:
Follow established safety procedures when installing, testing, and repairing AV equipment.
Ensure proper handling and storage of tools, equipment, and spare parts.
Comply with manufacturer specifications, company policies, and technical standards.
Key Requirements
OND/HND/B.Sc. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in AV installation, electronics repair, technical support, or a related role.
Good knowledge of audio and visual equipment, including TVs, projectors, speakers, amplifiers, microphones, and display systems.
Ability to diagnose electrical/electronic faults using appropriate testing equipment.
Basic knowledge of cabling, connectors, signal flow, HDMI, USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and other AV interfaces.
Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read basic technical diagrams and equipment specifications.
Good communication and customer-service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
Willingness to travel to customer locations when required.
