Purpose Statement


We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Branch Manager with strong knowledge of the Kano market terrain, business landscape, and customer behavior.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving business growth, managing branch operations, leading high-performing teams, and ensuring regulatory compliance while delivering exceptional customer experience.
This role requires a results-driven leader who can aggressively mobilize deposits, grow loan portfolios, and deliver sustainable profitability in line with the bank's strategic objectives.


Responsibilities

Business Growth & Revenue Generation


Develop and execute strategies to drive deposit mobilization, loan disbursement, and overall revenue growth.
Own and deliver on branch targets including deposits, loans, revenue, and profitability.
Identify and onboard new customers, businesses, and partnership opportunities.
Expand market share within Kano and surrounding regions through aggressive market penetration.


Leadership & Team Management


Recruit, lead, and manage a high-performing branch team.
Set clear performance targets and drive accountability across all team members.
Implement structured training, coaching, and performance management initiatives.
Foster a strong sales and performance-driven culture within the branch.


Risk Management & Compliance


Ensure strict adherence to CBN regulations, internal policies, and credit risk frameworks.
Maintain a healthy loan portfolio with minimal non-performing loans (NPLs).
Enforce strong internal controls and compliance with banking standards.
Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate operational and credit risks.


Customer Experience & Relationship Management


Ensure delivery of excellent customer service and client satisfaction.
Build and maintain strong relationships with high-value customers and stakeholders.
Drive cross-selling of financial products tailored to customer needs.
Handle escalations and ensure prompt resolution of customer issues.


Operations & Branch Management


Oversee daily branch operations including credit processing, cash management, and service delivery.
Ensure operational efficiency, cost control, and profitability of the branch.
Maintain optimal utilization of branch resources and infrastructure.
Ensure business continuity and operational readiness always.


Market Intelligence & Stakeholder Engagement


Conduct market research to identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities.
Develop strong relationships with regulators, community leaders, and business networks.
Position the branch as a key financial partner within the Kano business ecosystem.

Requirements


Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
MCIB (Member, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria) certification is required.
Minimum of 5years experience strictly within a Microfinance Bank (MFB) with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of Kano market, commercial terrain, and local business dynamics.
Proven track record in deposit mobilization, loan disbursement, and revenue growth.
Solid understanding of credit risk management and regulatory compliance.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
Must reside in Kano State, with preference for candidates based in or around Dawakin Kudu and its environs.
