Role Description
The Broker Consultant (Liberty Group) role is a full-time, on-site position based in Century City.
The role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with independent financial advisers, providing marketing, product training and support across Liberty's insurance and investment offerings.
You will also have the opportunity to work with the exciting INN8 Digital Investment Platform as well as Standard Bank International.
Day-to-day tasks include meeting with IFAs to assist with client proposals, providing technical guidance on insurance and retirement planning solutions, and supporting new business development and retention activities. The Broker Consultant will analyse market trends and broker performance, prepare sales plans and profiles, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure efficient service delivery.
The role also requires regular in-person visits, presentations, and consultations to help IFAs grow their practices and deliver suitable solutions to their clients.
Qualifications
Expertise in Investments and Long-term Insurance, with the ability to advise and support brokers on Liberty's product suite.
Solid understanding of Finance and Retirement Planning to assist brokers in developing comprehensive client solutions.
Excellent Customer Service skills, with the capacity to manage broker queries, provide timely support, and maintain long-term relationships.
Relevant qualification in finance, insurance, economics, or a related field; regulatory certifications (e.g., FAIS-compliant) are highly beneficial.
Proven experience in a broker consultant, financial adviser, or related financial services role, ideally within the South African market.
Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities, with confidence in client-facing and training environments.
Ability to work independently, manage a portfolio of brokers, and meet performance targets in an on-site, office-based setting.
Proficiency in standard business software (e.g., MS Office) and comfort using digital tools for reporting and client communication.

Provide specialist advice and support in area of accountability to ensure that identified solutions and recommendations are appropriate and effective
Ensure business retention through the application of various sales techniques such as rate negotiations, product comparisons and changing perceptions.
Provide product training in order to ensure the transfer of product knowledge, enabling appropriate recommendations to clients.
Ensures that underwriting practice and rules are fully understood and appreciated.
Resolves any new business and servicing obstacles and blockages to increase
Broker/IFA satisfaction and positively influence service perception.
Accountable for the execution of specialised work including the improvement of quality, standards and outputs within defined work routines and operating procedures.
Proactively solves problems, determines root-cause and applies solutions in line with guidelines and providing the necessary information to solve problems related to area of specialisation.
Plan for own task execution and advises on improvements related to area of specialisation.
Customer
Provide sound consulting services and recommendations based on customer needs,current information and trends.Informs, educates and up skill partners in sales and relationship capabilities across the range of the Standard Bank Group (SBG) (in which Liberty sits in the Insurance and Asset Management (IAM) division), products and services to ensure customers retention and increased sales revenue and growth.
Provides a basic competitor analysis that enables a better understanding of relativeproduct value, features, advantages and benefits across the range of SBG products.
Provides opportunity plans and insights to advisory partners on existing and newmarketing opportunities across the range of SBG products within and outside of existing client base.
Develops basic insights into client needs and solutions that enables trust andconfidence in continued and productive direct support interactions with advisory partners.
